“Jim Matuga is an author with a message you can trust!”
“Followership — that’s the real game-changer. This book nails it.”
Humble Influence was such an eye opening read!!!
I do not have enough words to explain my thoughts and opinions on this book!!! It is WOW!!! I think my favorite was how Jim incorporated how through submission to a greater mission, servant leadership, humility and authenticity, empathy, sacrifice for the greater good, empowering others and transforming others through followership; Jesus lived out the ultimate model of followership and became the ultimate greatest leader the world has ever known!!!

Thank you for writing this book, Jim!
I just finished reading the book & I want to thank Jim Matuga for writing this not so big but extraordinary book! The market is filled with innumerable books on leadership, yet I have never read a book on followership, which is as consequential as leadership.
Jim’s book emphasizes the importance of followership and how one can achieve a great deal in life by just being a follower. It explores various facets of ‘philosophy of followership’ with great examples from history, biblical wisdom and the modern world. I personally liked the structure of each chapter where Jim introduces his theoretical framework/arguments followed by real world examples, takeaways and concluding reflections. This design has kept each chapter logically organized and effective in communication.
This is also a great book for managers, teachers, professors, and C-suite leaders to make them understand the perspectives of team members, students and employees. As an Engineering professor/instructor (& future entrepreneur!) myself, the book teaches me viewpoints from the other side.
As leaders and followers are coequal & there are about a trillion books on leadership, it is high time to read, follow, appreciate, & celebrate the ideas and writings on followership. A great book from an incredible Appalachian entrepreneur, businessman and an author!

On an interesting side note, reading Jim’s book made me think about applying Nash equilibrium to the leadership and followership dynamics. Nash equilibrium, in game theory, states that multiple competitors make the best possible decisions for the best possible individual outcomes. Though leaders and followers are not competitors, both have to make the best possible decisions for the best possible outcomes for the individual success and for realizing the goals of the organization. Nash equilibrium theory was developed by Dr. John Nash, from Bluefield, West Virginia, as part of his PhD thesis at Princeton University for which he won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 1994.

For Leaders and Followers
Whether you lead an organization, aspire to lead an organization, or want to become the best follower you can be, this book is for you.
Sometimes leaders underestimate the influence of followers. This book opened my eyes to the great power of followers. Following doesn’t mean blindly supporting everything a leader does. As Jim points out, followership is about active engagement and contributing to the success of the organization in a meaningful way. Your input as a follower is critical to the overall success of the organization.
From a sales perspective, I was inspired by the message. Regardless of your current role, you can benefit by this quick read.
